Making use of repurposed and salvaged lumber, downed tree branches, and mixed hard and softwoods, I create functional and decorative objects that reveal the unique patterns and qualities of each piece of wood. Through the process, features that may have gone unnoticed emerge into “plane sight.” Each piece has a wonderfully smooth finish, making them both beautiful to look at and soothing to touch.
I live on a half-acre urban homestead in Santa Cruz, California with my wife, Marion. I am retired from a long career as a public school teacher, including 12 years teaching woodshop at New Brighton Middle School in Capitola.
